Megan's Story: From Two Years of Trying to a Miracle Baby
Every fertility journey looks different, but they often start the same way: hope, followed by waiting, followed by questions. That was true for Megan Gilmer, who came to RBA after months of trying to conceive without answers. Here is how her story unfolded, in her own words.
Where It All Started
Megan and her husband got married in October 2023. Shortly after coming off birth control, she noticed her body wasn't doing what it should. She saw her OB in March 2024, where they tried a few medications, but nothing worked. By August 2024, the couple decided it was time to see a fertility specialist, and they came to RBA.

The Moment Everything Changed
Some milestones stay with you forever. For Megan, one stands out above the rest: doing her first embryo transfer on her second wedding anniversary. "It was magical," she recalls. Not long after, she finally saw two pink lines on a pregnancy test after two years of trying.
Facing the Scary Moments Head-On
Fertility journeys rarely move in a straight line, and Megan's was no exception. Along the way, she faced medications that didn't work as hoped and a frightening scare early in her pregnancy caused by a subchorionic hematoma, a pocket of blood that can form near the gestational sac. It's a complication our physicians monitor closely, and one that can feel terrifying for expecting parents.
"We overcame them with our phenomenal care team, prayer, and having each other to lean on," Megan says. It's a reminder that fertility treatment is as much an emotional journey as it is a medical one, and having the right support, at home and in the exam room, makes all the difference.
A Beautiful Ending
On June 30, 2026, Megan and her husband welcomed their baby boy. "We now have our beautiful baby boy in our arms and we couldn't be happier," she shares.
Her Advice for Anyone Just Starting Out
When asked what she would tell someone at the beginning of their own journey, Megan kept it simple: "Take it one day at a time. It's one of the hardest things we have ever gone through, but it is so beyond worth it in the end."
