Honoring Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day

A Day of Remembrance and Compassion

Every year on October 15, families around the world pause to honor Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. This day acknowledges the deep grief of those who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, or the loss of a newborn.

At Reproductive Biology Associates (RBA), we know how important it is to create space for healing, support, and remembrance.

Why This Day Matters

Pregnancy and infant loss is more common than many people realize. According to the CDC, about 10 to 15 percent of recognized pregnancies end in miscarriage, and thousands of families experience the heartbreak of losing a baby each year. These numbers show how widespread this grief is, but every experience is unique and deeply personal.

Awareness Day provides an opportunity to:

  • Honor babies gone too soon

  • Offer support to grieving families

  • Encourage open conversations that reduce stigma and isolation

Ways to Honor and Remember

On October 15, people across the world take part in the Wave of Light, lighting candles at 7 p.m. local time to create a continuous glow of remembrance. Other meaningful ways to honor the day include:

  • Sharing your story or listening to others

  • Planting a tree or flower in memory

  • Wearing a pink-and-blue ribbon to show support

  • Taking a quiet moment of reflection

You Are Not Alone

Grief does not follow a set timeline, and there is no “right” way to heal. At RBA, we are here to walk with you through all aspects of your fertility journey, both celebrations and struggles. If you or someone you love is experiencing loss, support is available through counseling, support groups, and compassionate medical care.
